This morning, for a change, we didn't take a taxi and walked to the train station in Yangon. There, we bought three train tickets for the Circular Train for the equivalent of 36 cents. This train goes around the city once within 3 hours and makes 38 stops. Shortly after we bought the tickets, the train arrived. We rode through various neighborhoods of Yangon at a speed slightly faster than walking speed. The fascinating thing about this train was the life inside it. Vegetables were sorted, food was sold, and everything that could be transported on a train was. Along the way, we bought some food from one of the many vendors (omelette with cabbage). After three hours, we were more than ready to get off at the starting point and walk to a market near the train station. Jan and Markus bought the typical skirts that all men wear here. After the market, we went to a shopping center for lunch where I had Thai curry for the first time in a long time. From there, we headed back to the hostel because we had to take a taxi for over an hour to the bus station. There, we took a night bus to Kalaw. The advantage of the night bus is that we save on accommodation and don't lose a day. The time until I fly to Taiwan is getting shorter. The ride was very bumpy, but we were able to sleep for a few hours.
