For the last 16 days, we have been traveling from Brisbane to Cairns with several stops. We have seen not only kangaroos and koalas, but also dolphins that we were even allowed to feed.
On Fraser Island, we took a 2-day tour and luckily had an incredibly cool group, so we had an unforgettable time.
The Whitsundays were just a day trip. There we went snorkeling, unfortunately the reef here was pretty destroyed by Cyclone Debbie in April, so we hardly saw any fish and the water quality was very poor. Even at the famous Whitehaven Beach, you could clearly see the traces of the cyclone. There were whole trees on the beach that had stood in the opposite bay before.
The Great Barrier Reef was breathtaking despite the bad weather and strong winds. I did two dives there, and they will certainly not be my last. Unfortunately, the water quality was not particularly good here either, but I still saw a lot.
We also really liked the surroundings of Cairns, despite the persistently bad weather. We especially enjoyed the markets in the rainforest in Kuranda. Here you can stroll for ages in a nice atmosphere.
I have now been in Hong Kong for a few hours, which seems very big and exhausting so far, but that's how big cities are, unfortunately.
