Salvador and Bahia are known for one thing: Capoeira!

The movement art has its roots in the time of the slave movement in Salvador, after the Portuguese claimed the land for themselves. At that time, the slaves were forbidden to practice fighting. Therefore, they regarded Capoeira as a dance and sold it as such. At that time, it was even practiced with weapons. Today, however, it is a pure body movement art, which moves to the rhythm of various instruments, especially the Berimbau, and is very dynamic. The whole body can be used. As part of our studies, we were able to attend the seminar at UFBA and learn a lot about it. It was very memorable and interesting.

After the course, we went back to the beach to relax our bodies and get some sun ;)

P.S.: Due to the introduction of slaves by the Portuguese, many Salvadorans have African roots. In addition, many African customs and religions are still practiced in Salvador. Not least because of this, many dark-skinned Brazilians live in Salvador.
