Ubento boxes and travel comfort

Since we treated ourselves to a JR Pass for Green Cars, we are allowed to use the first class in the Shinkansen. That means: after boarding, we are provided with a warm towel for hand washing. In addition, seats with plenty of adjustment options and ample legroom. There are also two foldable tables per person.

The tables are meant to be used. The Japanese do this with Ubento boxes. These boxes contain versatile meals in a convenient size, which are then eaten in the Shinkansen. Usually accompanied by a beer, and then it's time for sleep.

Another pleasant aspect of traveling: announcements kindly request to avoid loud noises, which the Japanese take seriously. As a result, each compartment is quieter than the quiet sections of ICE trains.
