Part 2 of this eventful week with Mom and Dad:
On Friday, March 1st, we drove to the shopping center outside of the city center due to bad weather. As expected, a trip with Thomas and Sabine is never boring because it doesn't take long for one of them to have a tantrum. This time, it was thanks to Thomas and his obsession with doing everything online. Since the shopping center is about 11km outside of the city, we had to take the bus. Here in England, you can buy all tickets directly from the bus driver. In addition, everything is paid for with card and contactless or Apple Pay, so you don't have to dig for change. But as always, Thomas wanted to buy our tickets online and then show them when boarding. Unfortunately, the tickets were not transferable to other people, so he essentially bought 2 tickets for himself. When boarding, Mom had to buy a ticket from the bus driver, and Dad wanted to show his online ticket. It turned out that he bought the wrong ticket for this bus, so he had to buy another ticket from the bus driver. Mom had a half nervous breakdown during that time, and I had a great time.
After 30 minutes, we finally arrived at the Old Trafford Shopping Centre. It is one of the biggest shopping centers in the entire UK. Only foolish is you go to a shopping center when you are against mass consumerism.
The food court is the largest I have ever seen. In theory, you could spend several days in this center without getting bored.
On Saturday, we planned a day trip to Liverpool. There, we visited the British Music Museum and took a walking tour of the city.
We stayed in Manchester on Sunday and Monday and explored everything around the city.
On Tuesday, it was time to say goodbye. But not without one last coffee!
Unfortunately, Dad didn't manage to look normal in at least three pictures, so he has to live with this one.
That was the weekend with Mom and Dad in brief. Next weekend, we're heading to Dublin.
Stay tuned!
