In retrospect, we can really say that Arequipa is a really nice little city. Although the traffic, like in all of Peru, is hellish, the beautiful old town more than makes up for it.
After we reached our sleeping place, a courtyard of a hostel, Kai's first task was to replace the blown fuse of our horn. Peruvian drivers feel the need to honk at every opportunity, and due to the Peruvian driving style, Kai often feels this need as well.
In Arequipa, we actually wanted to visit the Santa Catalina Monastery. The guidebook and a travel blog recommended the visit on Thursday evening, as it is particularly atmospheric with candles and lanterns. Well, the problem was, the opening times had recently changed. The atmospheric tour now takes place on Wednesdays. As an alternative program, we treated ourselves to a Pisco Sour on the Plaza - after the second round, this was also atmospheric 😊.
