Dear ones,
I believe I have been on the Camino long enough now to finally learn to appreciate the truly little things in life. Today, for example, I was like a little child rejoicing over my freshly washed (in the washing machine!) laundry! You can't imagine how many times I buried my nose in my t-shirts, socks, and other items earlier. It was wonderful! I sat on my bunk bed in the 24-person dormitory, folded my fresh laundry, and was as happy as if someone had handed me a 100 euro note in my 'old' life. I think that's exactly what makes pilgrimage special. To rejoice in the small, seemingly insignificant things in life!
To be content with what one has... the things one usually takes for granted.
So, dear ones, next time put your nose in your freshly washed laundry, pause for a moment, and be grateful for what you have!
Family, friends, enough food, a roof over your head, your own bed, the next sunrise or sunset, the smile of your loved ones or even a stranger's... or simply freshly washed laundry! :)
Today, with humble but still happy greetings!
Nicole
