Iguazu Falls - Argentina/Brazil

I actually prefer the Spanish name of the falls: Cataratas del Iguazu. They are located exactly between Argentina and Brazil. There are 20 large and over 200 smaller waterfalls. Some are over 80 meters high. The falls can be admired from both the Argentine and Brazilian sides. The starting point for me was the town of Puerto Iguazu in Argentina. From here, buses regularly depart to the national park and back. First, Chloe and Lisa from Ireland and I went to the Argentine side. Here we first booked a boat tour to the falls and started immediately. The backpacks were packed in waterproof bags and we were equipped with life jackets. The ride started immediately, speeding through the rapids towards the waterfalls. After a short photo stop, we went straight into the falls at high speed. We knew we would get wet, but it was really a complete shower. The rain jacket was completely unnecessary, as the water simply flowed through the sleeves and collar. Soaking wet, but completely thrilled with the exhilarating ride, we then took a leisurely ride on a small train to the Devil's Gorge, a huge gorge through which massive amount of water rush. You can admire the waterfalls from several beautiful circular paths from many different perspectives. Here we were also able to spot monkeys, coatis, and toucans.

The next day, we continued on the Brazilian side. Here, everything was somehow much more touristy and not as natural anymore. Nevertheless, we had fantastic views of the waterfalls.

Tips for visiting the waterfalls: 1. Take the boat tour. 2. Don't bother wearing a rain jacket. 3. Bring extra clothes!
