9th May/40th Day: Nuits-Saint-Georges - Beaune

Only 20 km are announced to Beaune, but the decision is made: new shoes are needed. And since no one knows when the next proper sports shop will come after Intersport in Beaune, the afternoon should be enough.

We both start walking together: step and rhythm with Marcel fit, I am extremely happy.

We walk through endless vineyards, where hundreds of workers are busy making this year's wine harvest prosperous. But there are also many frost-damaged grapevines to be seen.

We are making good progress and soon reach Aloxe-Corton with its typical beautiful castle.

Soon after, we arrive in Beaune with Saint-Nicolas and Porte Saint-Nicolas:

Beaune is so beautiful, we know it from a previous very nice vacation with Thomas and Veronika.

First of all, Hotel Dieu, a former foundation for the poor and sick, built in 1443 and the attraction of Beaune.

There was really a lot to see, we met Yvonne, who has been walking the same path as me for many days - one or two days ahead - and in the afternoon my shoes, which have been walked 1400 km, are retired 🙄😢

We stay at "Le Jaff", where we can also cook for ourselves in the evening.

1068 km are on the counter.
