There are search and rescue dogs in Ireland, with County Cork being different from the rest of the island, which is covered by SARDA, while Cork is also served by this individual organization. The structures, training, and everyday problems are comparable to those of the BRK Rettungshundestaffel Traunstein. The exchange was a lot of fun with SARDA Kent, and it was great to see the dogs in training.
The Border Collies look a little different here, but they really have a lot of energy...
In addition to some fun meals, there were also great conversations. Rory has lived in Germany for several years, his wife is from Germany, and she overfeeds the dog Loki in German tradition. His German was very good, and Jo also remembered a few words of German from school, it was really cute!
It's funny how quickly you can connect with like-minded people who engage in similar volunteer activities. It connects more than I had imagined. Now I hope that it will work out the same way in France, Spain, and Portugal. Maybe I should start a call for help on a different platform here...
The day ended really well with Cork, especially when we got the tip that it's usually better to walk in the forests with dogs.
Thank you Suzanne for the successful day!
