After a long absence, I'm back with reports from the desert! In there, I didn't have Wi-Fi, but I had a hammock for only €3 per night, just 4 meters from the beach. There's not much to do there except admire nature and go kitesurfing. Of course, I had to try kitesurfing, but as you can see from the photos, it didn't go well for me.
In general, I imagined the whole experience to be more adventurous. You could rent a car and go camping, but it's expensive and somewhat dangerous here. Well, maybe those are just excuses. In the end, the desert is just another stop on the Gringo Trail that spans across Colombia, attracting perhaps only the less spoiled specimens of our species. In Cabo de la Vela, it actually felt like there were more French people than locals.
I originally planned to do some desert hikes until I got to the desert. The heat there is unbelievable and, despite the wind, easily underestimated. It really paralyzes you. That's why, after spending the morning sipping saltwater while kitesurfing, I played cards with a Swiss couple. It was nice. I stayed here for three nights before venturing deeper into the desert with my Swiss friends.
