I booked a trip to Milford Sounds from Te Anau. I'm glad I chose the bus transport option instead of driving myself. This way, I could relax and enjoy the scenery in the panoramic bus while the guide told us a lot about it. But pictures speak louder than words, so see for yourself... You can see brown deposits on the white, snow-covered mountains. That's the ash blowing over from the bushfires in Australia. Someone also told me that it smells burnt up there. What else? I can only say that I made the right choices in my route, because I'm experiencing the best week down here. It's an incredible 26 °C. And I expected rain and cold at the southernmost point. There's also not such a cold wind as on the North Island. So I'm still experiencing a dreamy summer. :)
