Since the Google weather forecast had good weather only until April 25th, we decided to explore the entire West Coast in 2 days.
Stop number 1 was the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in New Zealand at Buller River. We then took the next break at Cape Foulwind and enjoyed the view of the Tasman Sea. The third and final stop of the day were the Pancake Rocks near Pukaiki.
On day 2 of the West Coast trip, we started with a detour to Hokitika River, which appears turquoise due to the glacial flour in the water. In Okarito, we made our way to a sensational viewpoint with breathtaking views from the Tasman Sea to the Blue Lagoon and the Southern Alps.
Last but not least, we visited the Franz Josef Glacier, which was named after the Austrian Emperor Franz Josef.
