The next morning we finally see how much snow has fallen in the last 4 days (69 cm were measured). We later learn that there hasn't been this much snow in early November for 97 years.
Today we have booked a 5-hour Arctic Nature Tour in a minibus. Our guide for this time is Lena, who is from Germany.
We drive to Whale Island and within a short time we are in a deep snowy landscape. The sun/cloud mix provides wonderful light for a picture-perfect panorama. Lena knows the best spots and we are thrilled!
There is a winter picnic on a beach: hot chocolate, tea, sandwiches, cookies, and brunost-lefse, a Norwegian specialty made from brown cheese.
Lena has really ordered everything for us: sea eagles, reindeer, and even otters that run across the road. Just as we joke "Now all we need is the moose", there is actually one lying in the snow at the edge of the forest. We can hardly believe our luck.
Lena also took some very nice photos of us on the tour, which she provided to us on the same evening. Simply a great tour that far exceeded our expectations. Booking options available through the agency Northern Horizon in Tromsø.
