Sydney 11.09.-15.09.2018

已发表: 16.09.2018

Since my host family went on vacation for 2 weeks, I had 2 weeks off and was home alone. The first week I stayed at home and met up with friends, and in the second week, I spontaneously flew to Sydney.

I had been looking for people who were also free at the same time as me and wanted to do something. I thought about taking a tour to the Great Ocean Road or an Outback tour. I also contacted different people on Facebook, but in the end, it didn't work out. So I resigned myself to spending the 2 weeks at home.

Then I saw Sophie's post on Facebook, where she wrote that she also had 2 weeks off because her family went on vacation. So we met up in the city and discussed what we wanted to do. Sophie suggested taking a trip to Sydney, so we started planning. On Sunday evening, we booked a hostel and flights, and on Tuesday afternoon, we headed to Sydney, which we were both really excited about.

The flight took 1 1/2 hours, and we arrived at our hostel around 7 pm. The hostel was very nice, and the separate bathrooms were also great. On Tuesday evening, we explored the area around the hostel and were even surprised by a fireworks display on the shore.

On Wednesday morning, we went on a sightseeing walk, where we got to see the major attractions like the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House. Since the weather forecast predicted 27 degrees, in the afternoon, we took a bus to Bondi Beach. But because it was very windy there, we quickly decided not to go swimming. Instead, we enjoyed the view and then did the Bondi Walk, which takes you along the cliffs and leads to other beaches.

For Thursday, we planned to visit the Wildlife Zoo with typical Australian animals and the Sealife Aquarium. At the zoo, we could see animals like kangaroos, koalas, and the Tasmanian Devil up close, and at Sealife, we could get an impression of the fish and plants in Sydney's underwater world. Afterwards, we spent time at Darling Habour and in Chinatown.

On Friday morning, we visited the typical The Rocks Market and then had pancakes for breakfast. In the afternoon, we took a bus to a place where we had a beautiful view of the city. In the evening, we took the Rocks Tour, which allowed us to learn more about the history of the city.

On our last day, which came way too quickly, we visited a market in the morning where there were mainly second-hand clothes, jewelry, and food. Then we went to the Royal Botanical Garden, which offered a beautiful view of the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. Finally, we took a closer look at the Opera House and walked around it, and then it was unfortunately time to go to the train station and head to the airport.

I really liked Sydney, there are many great places to explore.
