Taking the train to Aguas Calientes

已发表: 24.02.2020

To reach the legendary Inca city of Machu Picchu at an altitude of 2400m, we first drive by van from Cuzco to Ollantaytambo. During the rainy season, the train only runs from here towards Aguas Calientes, the small town below the World Heritage Site. In the comfortable carriages of the Inca Rail Company, we leisurely travel through a wonderfully green mountain landscape, always along the rushing Urubamba River, towards our destination. In Aguas Calientes, we first put on our rain capes and hope for dry weather for the next day. On the recommendation of our hotelier, we have an excellent meal in the restaurant 'Full House' in the evening, our preference for juicy alpaca steaks grows! But the delicious dessert 'sigh of Lima' is not to be underestimated as well😋. In general, we prefer the Peruvian menu overall to the calorie-rich Brazilian one.
