...is the Brooklyn Bridge? Today, on May 19th, the tourist program started. At breakfast, we met Germans from Hamburg who pointed us to a bus line directly to the Brooklyn Bridge. So off to the bus stop and wait for 45 minutes. 'Welcome in New York,' a nice lady said. After 40 minutes, she gave up and handed us her water bottle. On the bus, we ran into the Hamburg family again, who kicked us off at the right station.
The transition to Manhattan is an experience, partly because of the crowds of people moving back and forth on the narrow path. Photographing and posing tourists, constantly interrupted by frustrated cyclists who are not here for fun. An elderly couple from New York starts talking to us. They have been living in the city for 40 years and are here for the first time. Well, I've only been to the cathedral once...
On the other side in Manhattan, it is not far to the 9/11 memorial. Two holes in the ground, 60 meters by 60 meters, into which the water constantly disappears. A successful memorial, if such a thing exists. But the horror seems to be omnipresent currently. That's a different story.
