03/07/2019 9:15 AM Departure from Grönninghoved Strand Campsite
Mileage: 4604
Outside temperature: 19°C sunny, little wind
After another good night's sleep, the youngest woke us up with a smile around 6:45 AM and was the only one ready to start the day. As the early bird catches the worm, we went for a morning walk by the sea shortly after. The seagulls looked at us somewhat surprised. Shortly after 9 AM, we headed towards Kerteminde on the first Danish island, Fyn. After crossing an impressively large bridge (even larger ones will follow), we reached our destination around 11 AM. We set up our camp right by the marina and after a royal lunch (€22 for 2 orders of fries with nuggets/sausages and 2 small drinks), we visited the Baltic Sea Biological Centre. Here, we could admire seals, porpoises, seagulls, and all kinds of small marine creatures. There were some shows with the larger animals, which were very exciting, even though our Danish is not that good and we didn't understand everything.
After a mixed nap in the afternoon, we went for an extensive walk, visited an old mill, and then played on the beach in the sand. After some shopping (25% VAT and an extra fat tax made most groceries cost more than €2), we ended the rest of the day listening to live folk music at the Hafen-Kontor.
Two notes about the parking lot:
1. Don't park too close to the edge, as there is no Wi-Fi there anymore.
2. Ships are sometimes transported to the water with tank-like vehicles, so a roadside parking spot is not ideal if you want to have a peaceful nap in the afternoon.
