Galway - Cliffs of Moher

已发表: 17.01.2023

'Gigantic and overwhelming - I am standing at the edge of the world'

No visit to Ireland is complete without seeing the famous Cliffs of Moher. They are the image that is constantly presented to us in advertisements and holiday pictures - the image we have of Ireland. Mighty cliffs, howling wind - the roaring sea far below while standing on green ground. It's like stepping into a picture book.

Once again, I had chosen a guided day trip as my way of traveling, and the bus made a little stop in a charming fishing village called Doolin, where I enjoyed Ferbes' lovingly packed lunch bag in the green grass and in the company of cows.

After that, we went to the cliffs! You can walk along the cliffs for a long time and choose the best spots for views and photos. Of course, it was crowded - especially because we had such great weather. Following the paths, I let the view take my breath away over and over again. There were barriers (the cliffs are really steep and dangerous), but many people still went to the edge, and at a somewhat more spacious spot, I dared to do the same. However, I didn't go all the way to the edge - that's definitely too dangerous for me! I could have followed the paths there forever, walking along the cliffs with the sea in sight so close and yet unattainable. There wouldn't be enough time for it, the cliffs are definitely worth being one of Ireland's main attractions! Although I found the smaller cliffs on the Aran Islands a bit more beautiful - maybe they were not as big or breathtaking as the ones in Moher, but it was quieter and not so crowded, and you could experience more of the peaceful silence that suits such a place.

The Cliffs of Moher should definitely be on everyone's list when traveling to Ireland!
