Finally, we made our first proper hike to Mount Snowdon, which is called Yr Wyddfa in Welsh, which means burial mound. The summit of the mountain is at an elevation of 1085m, of which we climbed 721m in less than 2.5 hours. Athletic, right? I was rewarded with sore muscles for the following days.
There are several legends surrounding the mountain. One of them says that the mountain is the burial mound of the giant Rhita Gewr, whose robe was woven from the beards of the kings he had slain. Somehow fitting.
