A flea alone in New York

已发表: 03.03.2019

Today was the day - the journey continued and took me straight to the Big Apple.

As a final stop, we had a delicious breakfast at Eggspectation before heading almost directly to the airport.

Since immigration takes place in Canada when traveling from here to the US, I had to be at the airport even earlier. Luckily, there wasn't much going on, so I got through quickly. However, I had to go directly to the customs officer again because the terminal for electronic processing had crashed in between and half of my data was missing...

At this point, my unnecessary customs control action from the outgoing flight fits perfectly, which I forgot to share with you in my first post.

As absent-minded as I can be, I had taken small snack salamis with me to enjoy on the way. And of course, I didn't finish them during the journey. It only occurred to me again when filling out the customs declaration that I wasn't allowed to bring them in... The kind New Yorker next to me suggested that I should declare them anyway...

Henni and Micha (once I finally had wifi) didn't know whether to worry or burst out laughing.

Fortunately, the customs officer chose to burst out laughing, asked me if I was joking with him, and kindly informed me to leave such things at home next time. And then I was able to continue quickly...

Once I arrived in New York, everything went quickly because I had already gone through customs and co. Unfortunately, I couldn't see anything of the city during the approach as we landed in sleet... Accordingly, I looked like it too when I arrived at the hotel after a 600 m walk from the subway...

Checked in quickly, settled into my super tiny room, but hey, for a affordable price in the middle of Manhattan, I'll accept that the accommodation looks like a prison cell.

Now I'm going to end the evening peacefully in a bar around the corner with a delicious and especially strong cocktail and plan my day for tomorrow.

Small side note: Paper straws may be more environmentally friendly than plastic ones, but they're really gross... They soften so quickly that you can't even drink the drink...
