Today we spent the day on the couch. It was too sunny, windy and warm outside, so we didn't feel like going to the rainforest. Of course, we wanted to, but we only got our Daintree Rainforest tour for tomorrow.
So we decided to relax on the sofa. Our anti-burnout program for today: chill, look at photos from yesterday, drink coffee, sleep, eat, WhatsApp with the kids.
However, at 4:00 p.m. local time, we got bored and went out again. Our destination: Crystal Cascades.
This is where Aussies go for swimming when the box jellyfish take over the sea, from November to May. Box jellyfish are highly poisonous, box-shaped jellyfish with tentacles several meters long. Touching the jellyfish or even just pieces of torn tentacles can cause severe burns or even death in healthy people.
I am pleasantly surprised that no animal has bitten or sucked me yet. And we have already been here for 3 whole days. Even today, on the way to the Crystal Cascades through the local jungle, we only saw a few tiny ants and a few black, yellow, red birds. If the colors were in the right order, Germany could appoint the bird as its national bird. But of course, that's not the case.
On the way home, we drove around the area and I felt like I was in Ami-Land. The schools, the houses, the streets, the shops (although they close here on Saturdays at 6:00 p.m., you wouldn't find that in Ami-Land) and the license plates.
The only very British things here are the tea, fish and chips, and driving on the left side of the road.
