Day 2 - Yas Beach Club

We spend the morning with a cozy breakfast with the family. Our 2 little godchildren are excited to play and goof around with our kids. Late in the morning, we drive to Yas Mall. We want to have a small lunch here and after lunch, when the worst midday heat is over, go to the beach.

The car thermometer shows +40 degrees Celsius on the way to the mall just before 12 noon. Phew... that is definitely too hot for the beach. Will it get cooler later? Well, we'll see.

Today there's dessert at "Monchies", a frozen yogurt. Very delicious!

Shortly before 2 pm, we leave the mall and drive past Ferrari World and Yas Waterworld to Yas Beach Club. The car thermometer shows +42 degrees Celsius 😱

Oh boy, it's going to be a hot day at the beach. Last year, the beach club cost 50 AED for adults on weekdays and 25 AED for kids aged 8-16. Kids under 8 years old were free.

Since it's the weekend today, we have to pay double 😱

So 100 AED per adult and 50 AED for kids aged 8-16. Our son is 9 years old, so he also has to pay this time. Last time, when we were here for Easter, he could still go to the beach for free.

We find a nice spot and go splashing in the sea with all the kids. It's not a refreshing cool down. Quite a big difference from Easter, where the water was almost "too cold", but now it feels like stepping into a thermal bath.

So I prefer to use the pool - it's cooled 😉

Shortly before sunset, we leave the beach, the little ones are exhausted. While our godchildren get to go home to bed, we take a detour with our kids to the water shows at the Yas Marina, where both continue splashing around.

Back at the house, we enjoy the evening with a BBQ and a bottle of wine.
