After a week, we are back to show you our impressions of the beautiful island of Langkawi, located on the northern border of Malaysia, near Thailand.
Our accommodation was near Chenang Beach, so we spent our days walking along the beach, swimming, relaxing, AND enjoying the first sunset...
One day, we rented a car and toured the island. We went to the highest mountain (Gunung Raya), where we enjoyed the view.
We also visited other beautiful beaches, including a relatively untouched beach with clear water.. and the 'Black Sand Beach', where we snacked on fruit and caught monkeys stealing trash. By the way, there are many monkeys on the island's roads (including baby monkeys <3). And a few iguanas also made an appearance...
Enjoying the weather alone on the beach...
Black Sand Beach (at least a little black on the edge :-D)
Mango, watermelon, pineapple, and deep-fried banana... Delicious!!!
A monkey family...
The suicidal ones always ran in front of the car..
Then the waterfall marathon began: Unfortunately, with little success.. It continued just like it ended in Thailand 3 years ago: VERY LITTLE WATER... Three waterfalls, all advertised as beautiful.. Well, there's nothing we can do, but if we were disappointed, we want to share it with you. So here are the pictures from otherwise really beautifully designed little parks. PS: even the artificially created waterfall had the water turned off just as we arrived :-(
The first one promised so much...
Disappointed...
Even the highly praised Seven Walls Waterfall in the National Park didn't have any water. Just the wrong time.. Once again...
The artificial waterfalls were turned off just as we parked the car... Well, at least the Asians were still happy and took lots of pictures. :-D
In the northwest of the island, we discovered a beach where the locals enjoyed their evenings (building sandcastles, playing football, swimming, and grilling..).
Inviting for a stay!
In the evening, we enjoyed the sunset in the west of the island ourselves and had a competition with a few guys to see who could take the better sunset pictures... :-)
I think we easily won that one.. ;-)
On the evening before departure, we went to a night market to eat and then packed our backpacks... We left the island by ferry and headed to Penang. In the picture, you can still see the harbor of Kuah with the eagle as the island's mascot...
Last view of the truly beautiful island. We would recommend Langkawi for potential vacations for a week! Especially when you get away from the typical tourist places (like Chenang), you experience the friendliness of the locals... The beaches are simply stunning!!!
The only downside to our stay: It was extremely hot, with temperatures of 32-36°C and blazing sun...
Since we are a bit behind with the blog due to poor internet, the next blog entry from Penang will probably be coming in the next few days...
Until then, we wish you all greetings and have a great week :-) If anyone has any news from home, we would love to hear it in the comments <3
