Georgioupoli and St. Nicholas Chapel

The morning starts with a cup of beautiful hot coffee... wonderful. We decide to continue our journey and see where we will end up.

We leave the place aiming for the golden beach in Chania. It's not far, and then we can really relax. Upon arrival, we find only sloped spots and trees... no, we don't want that. We continue driving and after a very exhausting drive over the mountains, we find a beautiful spot by the beach in Georgioupoli, overlooking the water. On one side is the sea, and on the other side is a river whose name I unfortunately couldn't find out. There’s a strong current there, and it's an Eldorado for fishing. Let's see what we’ll eat tonight.

We take our chairs and sit on the sandy beach. We immediately realize that we are tourists, as we are sitting on the beach in T-shirts while everyone arriving there is wearing winter jackets... somehow really strange.

The St. Nicholas Chapel is nearby, but we will only visit it tomorrow.

While we sit on the beach, a beautiful and well-groomed cat approaches us and wants to jump onto my lap right away. Those who know me know that I'm a bit cautious about that, as stray cats... you never know what kind of roommates they might bring along. But this one is very well-groomed, lets me pet her, and she takes a nap on my lap. Somehow it’s nice, but as soon as a seagull appears, I'm already forgotten. Luckily, she still has her own will.

Today we have canned barley soup. A meal for when the desire to cook is missing or if we forgot to defrost meat. I'm currently writing in my notebook while Freddy is fishing... so one food option is still available.... I haven't opened the cans yet.

An evening walk rounds off the day. The deserted place feels somehow spooky and mystical... simply enchanting. The partially open restaurants are filled with a few people, the supermarket is empty, and the employee sits at the cash register, unsure of what to do... well, that's what the off-season is like. We come to a kind of marketplace where a lonely and abandoned Christmas tree stands, and it feels like 95% of the houses are empty....

The morning begins with a light gentle rain shower, the drumming on the motorhome roof is somewhat lulling and doesn't make it easy to get up at 7:00 AM and start the day. In the bathroom, I hear the coffee machine... Freddy is making the morning coffee, and that brings back joyful feelings... wow, how good we have it... a simple life.
