Today was our first day at the beach, which I would now like to introduce in a little more detail here:
Surin Beach (Hat Surin), 5 minutes from our apartment, is located between Bang Tao and Kamala Beach on the western side of Phuket in the Choeng Thale subdistrict. The beautiful sandy beach is flanked at both ends by small rocky outcrops that jut out into the ocean. Rows of coconut trees provide pleasant shade on the beach and there are great views of the calm waters. When the wind comes up and bigger waves, wave riders and surfers are said to be drawn to this beach, but we haven't really noticed anything about them from our usual spot in the very south. There is also a manned rescue tower in case someone is in danger. Baywatch sends its regards.
After a slightly later lunch - the best mango sticky rice and a tuna salad - we tried out our new snorkeling equipment and later met our landlords Angie and Jörg, from whom we got some tips on restaurants and markets we will visit in the next few days.
In the evening we fell into bed dead tired. The sun and snorkeling knocked us out 😉
