Day 53 in Auckland

Atejade: 25.12.2017

For the fourth time in Auckland. As always, traffic jam and everyone drives a bit crazy. So I will only be able to take care of the most important things, wash the camper and clean the inside briefly and then return it. The drive to Auckland took longer again, today is Friday and the start of the summer vacation, there are some traffic jams. But the drive over the Auckland Bridge is still fun! The joke of the day: when I get in the car in the morning, Chris Rea - Driving Home for Christmas is playing. And that on a hot summer morning! That will probably be today's motto...

Returning the camper is quick and uncomplicated, everything is ok. When transferring from the rental company to the airport, I meet Olli, a former resident of Ulm who now lives in Hamburg. How cool is that again! At the other end of the world. We agree to meet for a beer at Ulm next time. I drop off my luggage at the airport and enjoy the summer afternoon outside. I'm used to contrasts in the weather now, so the snow in Germany when landing won't be that unusual. At 9 pm, we take off in the A380 from Auckland Airport towards Dubai. The flight takes about 16 hours and then from Dubai to Munich.

On Saturday we finally reach Munich, after a few liters of water and a few gin and tonics ☺️ on board. The end of the trip is near. One of the flight attendants has also been to New Zealand and understands how I feel right now. This absolutely unbelievably great trip is coming to an end and because it's really emotional, I get a double gin and tonic on board 😂. I'm really looking forward to seeing the people at home, but I already miss New Zealand. First of all, I'll get a good night's sleep. After all, I've been on the road for almost 40 hours, 25 of them in the plane.
