Packing things up and off we went, to Machachusets, Machassuchetts or something like that. Massachusetts also.
Greyhound was quite expensive and the train cost even more. Finally, I came across a familiar alternative from Germany: Flixbus offers the four-hour journey for about $25, fair. The bus company has been active in the USA since 2018 and took over the competitor Greyhound in October.
The USA is an expensive place. Cheap electronics and clothes, but a simple, albeit good, dinner will cost you around $10 to $15. A beer at the bar, bam $7. You look twice at your wallet, even though everything looks damn delicious.
The accommodations are similar. Hotels are hardly affordable for solo travelers and hostels in these times... well. In New York, I stayed via Airbnb. A room in a shared apartment for $70 per night.
The offer in Boston was even more manageable. Especially since I only wanted to stay for two nights. Then I went to the hostel... two nights for $96, centrally located and practically empty. In the large building with 400 beds, I had my own 8-bed room. A class trip with a difference.
In the evening, another pub beer, leisure time to sort photos and prepare posts, in an Irish pub, with loud college kids in the background (Harvard?).
In memory of New York, a few pictures of skyscrapers.
