Boston, the oldest city in the USA, as everyone knows, and the people of Boston also know how to market this image perfectly. A so-called Freedom Trail leads along the most important historical landmarks in the cityscape, churches, meeting places, cemeteries, and monuments - an extensive exploration through the founding time of the United States. Despite wintry temperatures, the old town with its low brick buildings felt directly homely.
A visit to an old tavern was also part of the Boston program, with clam chowder, a specialty in New England.
Amidst skyscrapers and patriotic colonial kitsch, a special attraction almost went unnoticed, the City Hall. The City Hall from the 60s is an icon of brutalism (French: brût: raw) and polarizes with violence, size, and audacity.
A second attraction that my travel guide left out was the TV series pub 'Cheers'... 'where everybody knows your name.'
I deserved a long hot shower and greasy pizza after this cold day outside. It snowed at night.
Update: The Christmas tree of FOX news (article: Christmas Mayhem) was set on fire and burned down.
