Can I help you?

We are here! After almost 11 hours of flight and a nap, we finally arrived in Auckland. We went through passport control and immigration formalities super quickly. ๐Ÿ‘ Right from the start, we experienced the friendliness of the local people that many have described. Simply fantastic!

Upon arriving at the airport, we found ourselves right next to a Vodafone NZ shop. We were immediately provided with two prepaid SIM cards. Before the trip, we had already informed ourselves about the mobile phone costs of our German phone contracts and quickly realized that a card from the local mobile phone providers is the better choice.

Shortly after, Kurt picked us up. Kurt is the friendly Swiss guy who has settled down in New Zealand and runs a camper rental service. He was kind enough to rent one to us. A big thank you for the smooth process. After some travel tips and a brief introduction to the vehicle, we were on our way. Left-hand traffic, argh... But you get used to it. ๐Ÿ™„

Nasty thing: the turn signal lever is on the right!! ๐Ÿ˜ณ

For our first stop, we decided to stay at a hotel to have a stress-free rest on the day of arrival. In this case, it was the Castaway Resort in Waiuku. From there, we took a short trip to the local supermarket and stocked up on groceries. We ended the evening with a good New Zealand beer and are excited for our first leg to Paihia.
