From Las Vegas we drove to the vicinity of the Grand Canyon on 08.05. and spent the night in the small town of Williams after a 4.5 hour drive, which is located directly on Route 66. The village consists of 70% motels and 30% restaurants, where we also met some bikers.
After a delicious dinner in a typical American steak house, we went to bed exhausted.
The next morning, our big Grand Canyon adventure started with heavy rain and snow. At 0 degrees Celsius, we approached the Grand Canyon and made a short stop at the Visitor Center of the Grand Canyon National Park and watched a short film about the history of the canyon.
The weather didn't really cooperate all day. Unfortunately, snow, fog, and temperatures around 0 degrees dominated. Luckily, the fog cleared up a bit in the late afternoon and we were able to catch some, albeit brief, views of the amazing Grand Canyon.
We reached the town of Kayenta late at night, where we spent the night to experience Monument Valley the next morning.
P.S. Currently, we have a time difference of -8 hours.
