... Nature Girl & Nature Boy on new adventures through Australia, this time in a beautiful National Park further in the Outback -- now at 4,500 km on the clock.
On the long way to Karijini NP, over 1,000 km away and on endless straight roads through the Outback, we secretly watched some turtles laying eggs for dinner at 80 Mile Beach. Always out of sight and always vigilant not to scare them. Huge turtles, and not just one, but 100 climbing the beaches to lay their offspring in the dunes.
Deeper into the Outback and finally in the Karijini National Park -- first 25-hour audiobook finished on the road -- we hopped into the amazing rock pools that, upon closer inspection, look more like the last puddles in the almost dried-out gorges. Beautiful gorges made of red sand that settles everywhere (good thing Wendo only brought white socks ...). Of course, no brackish water in the pools, but fresh spring water from the last springs at the end of the Dry Season here.
The most remote pools could only be reached with a lot of climbing and wet feet, including head jumps and rock sliding.
We were always accompanied by delicious kangaroos and even more delicious ostrich birds, which are called emus here or are also emus. With these animals and others in our bellies and well-nourished, we fall asleep every evening with wine and beer as the sun sets.
