12th Day - Friday (piontek)

Ipapashiwe: 06.10.2017

Ksawery?

Weather today morning:

General situation: last day, flat tire on the bike, so going out with running shoes:

Well, I'll take the risk.

The course of history

First through the metro station..

Then to the Krolewski Park, first hurdles (Ksawery)..

then a little bit of stepping..

Wait, stop, what's this here?

Please not this Chopin again! Other side:

Commemoration of the Polish fallen soldiers at the Battle of Monte Cassino in Italy. Polish soldiers fought there on the side of the Allies for the liberation of Europe from National Socialism.

Through the park, oh, haven't been here yet:

Next to it, the heroes of the Warsaw Uprising from 1944..

..and I'm right in the middle of it ;-)

Now back for a moment. You really like running in here..

Hala Mirowska

is one of the two old market halls near the train station:

There are such market halls in German cities too, but not with such a tragic history. Left side of the hall:

During the Warsaw Uprising in August 1944, German machine gun fire mowed down 510 randomly selected pedestrians right here. The bullet holes are authentic. One does not want to imagine all this.

But now inside Mirowska. What can I say. They simply have everything here..

..especially cut flowers, cut flowers, cut flowers..

In the back of the Hala Gwardii, there used to be boxing, the ring is still there today:

Ordering is getting better already, the milk bar trauma has been overcome ;-)

..even the Majster is satisfied!

But now back to my Dzielna. Today the electricity meter will be read. Innogy has announced their visit:

Warsaw Chamber Opera

Right around the corner from me is the Warsaw Chamber Opera:

The house is the first address for traditional opera program. Allegedly, they have all of Mozart's operas in their repertoire. I'm going in now.

Clear message above the stage..

..but I can't read Polish ;-)

Looking down at the orchestra pit:

Let's quickly see what's being played ;-)

Aha, the hornist must practice a few more passages..

Opera is starting. It is a 'dramma giocoso' in two acts. That's all my preparations so far. Everything here is baroque and lavishly staged..

..and cast with absolutely convincing performers

If you're not into opera, you should give it a listen in such a house! You don't just hear, you feel the music with your whole body. The whole house seems to vibrate.

Della fortuna istabile

And so my visit to Warsaw ends in Italian, with a Rossini opera. In the second act, the triumph of good is sung, and the Warsaw residents really deserve that with their incredibly painful history.

But above all, I wish that it will never have to say here again:

Uwaga! Niemcy - Caution! Germans. We should do everything we can.

That's it!

It was nice that you were here and stayed with me for so long!

Leaving is a bit hard for me, because it was quite nice here in my Dzielna..

See you soon!
