Brilliant timing! We arrived in Arica during the three days in which the largest festival in Chile is taking place there. It was colorful and loud and the good mood of the Chileans was contagious.

The two of us fought up to the local mountain "El Morro" and up it, whereby I made do with the "half height" as a precaution. On the way we saw the former customs office and a church, both designed by Gustave Eiffel, made as a kit in France and assembled in Arica.

Afterwards we treated ourselves to a Pisco Sour in a bar, then another passenger joined us and the three of us moved on to a restaurant where we ate and drank excellently.

Afterwards we returned to the ship.
