Tue 18.8. Aabenraa - Lønstrup - Hirtshals - Ferry

Morning rain and wind, later showers and a lot of wind, evening sun

On our way to Lønstrup, we drive through many showers, but still enjoy the beautiful Danish landscape. The recuperative effect also sets in because we have many wonderful memories of holidays in Denmark.

In our favorite Danish holiday resort of Lønstrup, we take several hours of break and go for a walk. This place has many nice cafes, varied arts and crafts shops, and the roaring North Sea to offer. Right by the sea, it was very windy, with gusts up to wind force ten, and great waves.

Of course, we also visit our old friend, the lighthouse "Rubjerg Knude Fyr", which is currently in the middle of a sandstorm and looks downright mystical from a distance. We have already climbed it when it was still on the cliff edge and threatened to fall into the sea. In October 2019, it was moved 70m inwards on rails in a major operation.

Meanwhile, we are sitting in the sunshine at the ferry port, waiting for the ferry to Stavanger and Bergen, and still have a lot of fine sand between our teeth and in our hair, looking forward to a beer on deck!

Unfortunately, it would have been too windy, we have a lot of rough seas. Despite that, we can enjoy the rich Scandinavian buffet and let ourselves be rocked to sleep.
