Visit to Fabio Part 2

After watching a lot of football this week, whether it was in the form of matches or training sessions, on Thursday evening we went to a bar with two boys (Thiago and Bruno - cousins of Fabio's younger brother) where we had some drinks and enjoyed live music. Afterwards, we went to a friend's house party with them. Definitely an experience worth having!

The next morning, we attended one last training session with the junior team. Then we had an early lunch and set off towards Santos by car. The journey took about 4.5 hours, and we arrived at a very beautiful and spacious apartment belonging to a friend of Fabio's.

We unpacked quickly and went to the beach for a short walk. After a little detour through the city, we returned to our apartment to prepare for the Santos match in the evening.

We then headed to the Santos stadium. Vila Belmiro stadium is a very impressive venue and showed us its best side. From the sandwich before the match, to the pre-match program, and the match itself, it was a great experience. (By the way, Santos has officially the most beautiful entrance jerseys.) Santos won the match 6-2, which made Fabio especially happy. By the way, we also met someone from Basel at the stadium after the match.

After the Santos match, we went for some drinks. There, we were forced/allowed to take a free samba lesson. Both of us were rather untalented and are unlikely to pursue this career path further.

The next morning, we visited the museum of the king of football. I'm not talking about Ronaldo or Messi, but Pele. It was very interesting and well done. We could see and experience many pictures and things from Pele's life. There were also many interesting anecdotes from his life.

Afterwards, we went to a pre-carnival event with a friend of Fabio's who is a futsal coach at Santos. In short, it included traditional food, Caipirinhas, beer, loud music, and lots of people.

This morning, we drove from Santos to São Paulo airport and flew to Foz do Iguaçu. We will be watching the Super Bowl here tonight.
