Our prison life

Ipapashiwe: 16.04.2021

WELCOME to Day 5 of our boring and seemingly endless quarantine. 🎊🎉

After flying to Ireland last Sunday, we unfortunately had to barricade ourselves in our hostel as Ireland has imposed a 5-6 day quarantine for anyone entering here. So for days, we have been mainly eating raw food (carrots, apples, pears, etc.), as our hostel also does not have a kitchen and we try not to order food too often. Our scholarship is also limited (What a joke) and most delivery services here only accept credit card payment and none of us have a credit card. Whatever.

We are passing the time here with absolutely pointless things like doing makeup, teaching others the Cup - Song, playing many games, and drinking a lot of alcohol. Well, at least I am. Otherwise, it's unbearable here... or maybe I have an alcohol problem. (Laugh)🍻

A couple of days ago, I started drawing a little with the wonderful pens I received from my best friend for my birthday (Thanks Tina, they're great). Also, yesterday I tried embroidery and I think the results are already quite impressive for a beginner.

In addition, we have met a few people here in our hostel. 3 men who could be our fathers and a slightly younger girl named Verena who lives in the room opposite us. The men (Bobby, Tony, and I forgot the other one) are from Ireland and felt sorry for us in our raw food situation, so they spontaneously bought us chicken, salads, sandwiches, and many other things to eat last night. So, a few hours and a few bottles of wine later, we sat outside (maintaining distance, of course) and had a very enjoyable evening with everyone. We tried to teach the Irishmen German and the Irishmen tried to teach us Irish slang, which became funnier and easier with every glass of wine. The Irish dialect is sometimes very challenging but relatively easy to understand. I'm curious how it will be working next week. 😅

Today, the usual is on the agenda. Well... Nothing. Lying around and hoping that the day goes by quickly. By the time we get out of here, I will probably have forgotten how to walk.
