Kalaw- Mt. Popa -Inle Lake

Ipapashiwe: 09.09.2017

After the truly beautiful Bagan, the journey continued to Kalaw. On the way there, we stopped at Mount Popa, an inactive volcano. It was a steep climb up many meters. A temple was built on a hill. Since we hadn't done any exercise so far, I was very motivated, but going up stairs at 30 degrees Celsius and high humidity wasn't that easy. The view was really beautiful. After a short break, we continued on to Kalaw. It is located at a higher altitude and it was about 4 or 5 hours by car. Kalaw was very beautiful, very green, and the temperatures were pleasant. The next day, we went hiking. When I saw our guide wearing flip flops, I knew that it wasn't going to be a difficult tour. It just felt good to move a little. Sports had been neglected. The goal was a village on the mountain. We were warmly welcomed there by a local family and had a traditional meal and were also dressed in traditional clothing. It was nice to be accepted so kindly and friendly. Our visit coincided with the Pagoda Festival and we were able to participate in this traditional ceremony and were also involved. That was awesome :). After 2 nights in Kalaw, we continued on to Inle Lake. It was actually the place I liked the least, but I also had high expectations because you see many great pictures. Our day at Inle Lake consisted of a boat tour across the lake and from place to place. Many of the places are built directly on the water. That's somehow cool, but we were taken from workshop to workshop. We learned a lot, but it was just overwhelming. Also, we probably had the worst weather of the whole tour that day. Well, after Inle Lake, we flew back to Yangon, our starting point.
