Finally, we're continuing!

Ipapashiwe: 06.10.2016

Hello dear ones!

On Tuesday (4.10) we took the bus down the coast to Mission Beach. Since we have to be in Airlie Beach on Saturday to start our tour to the Whitsunday Islands, we don't have much time for stops and therefore decided to only stay in Mission Beach and Townsville for one night each. That was definitely enough for Mission Beach, because besides the beach, which is very beautiful and empty, there is nothing to see there. On Wednesday we continued to Townsville. We could have spent another day there, but we've already seen quite a bit yesterday.

Townsville (5.10): Since we arrived at the hostel at 2 p.m., we went straight to explore the city. First, we walked to 'The Strand', which offers a good view of the port of Townsville and Magnetic Island, an island where a lot of koalas are supposed to live. Then we strolled through the city, went shopping, and then went back to the hostel because we wanted to watch the sunset from a mountain. The sun sets here very early (around 6:10 p.m.), so we had to leave at 5 p.m. We were approached at the hostel whether we wanted to go in a group with a few others, which we gladly did. After lacing up our hiking shoes, we started and soon wondered if the view was really worth the climb. Climbing the Himalayas couldn't be much more exhausting. Luckily, we didn't go alone, because we're sure we would have turned around early, but in a group, we naturally didn't want to show weakness. So we bravely marched on and eventually made it. The view was really beautiful and we could recover during the sunset. Since we were already up there, we stayed until it was dark and the lights illuminated the city. At least for this view, the exhausting hike was worth it.

Today at noon (6.10.) we continued to Airlie Beach, where we will stay for a few days. Later, we will explore the city a bit more, as we have a lot to do tomorrow before our sailing tour to the Whitsunday Islands starts on Saturday. We are really looking forward to it and you can expect some beautiful pictures of dreamy beaches 😊.

You will hear from us again after the tour. Until then, Maren and Sarah!
