Basketball Project

Ipapashiwe: 11.01.2022

Hello dear Irimocindizzys,

This time it's a bit of a different post. This time it's not about us, but about a project that is close to our hearts.

Yesterday, I (Nico) was invited by the locals to play basketball with them here in Cape Coast, and today I followed this invitation. Despite my 31-year-old bones and an aging lung, I was able to keep up quite well and it was a lot of fun. After the game, I had a conversation with the coach of the children and teenagers, and he told me that their camp burned down recently. My natural skepticism towards such stories in Ghana was definitely present. But when he showed me the camp and pictures after the fire, I understood that the story wasn't made up. He said that he is currently trying to restore the stock of shoes, jerseys, and balls through donations.

Actually, the impulse or the thought of wanting to support these great and talented young people came from me, and I discussed with Miri whether she believed that we could support this project through donations. For me personally, it was immediately clear that I wanted to pass on some of my relatively easily earned euros to the coach of the young people, and Miri was quickly convinced of this monetary support as well. Being there in person and knowing where the money is going made the decision easy for both of us.

I told the coach that I only try to set things in motion when I know that every euro will be invested in the children and their sporting experiences. I discussed with him that we will handle everything as officially as possible in Ghana and that we want evidence in the form of pictures and receipts so that we can be sure that the donations will reach the children.

The fact that the children and teenagers have a community through sports and that they are not only doing something good for their bodies but also have the chance to temporarily deter possible criminal life paths, makes it a good opportunity to invest money in something that really adds value to people.

If you would like to support the children and would like to contribute some money to this project, you can do so via Paypal to the following address (until Friday, January 14, 2021, at 12 noon please).

nicolaslindner@gmx.de

Please feel free to send as much as you want. Even small amounts can make a big difference here.

Once the donation has arrived, we will publish the pictures and evidence here in the blog :)

Best regards Miri and Nico
