Valparaíso

Ipapashiwe: 17.12.2018

Finally, I'm heading to Valparaíso, about 100 km away from Santiago de Chile, the capital city. The port city on the Pacific Ocean is known for its hills, with over three dozen cerros (=hills) that are up to 400 m high. Valparaíso is famous for its steep funiculars called Ascensores, which connect the hills, as well as its colorful houses and numerous murals by Chilean artists. The latter are also lovingly known as 'Museo a cielo abierto' - an open-air museum. The old city center has even been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. This time, I will let the pictures, especially those of the murals, speak for themselves.
