...at least almost. More details can be found here: http://bit.ly/2tNHe5N
Today we left after a great breakfast at around 08:30. In Finland, it was already 09:30 due to a one-hour time difference.
The drive was cold and wet as expected, but today I was already prepared. The area here is extremely sparsely populated, often not seeing a single car for 20km. Today, I spotted reindeer (or rather several reindeer) for the first time! The 400km went by relatively quickly, and I reached my hostel at around 15:30. After bringing my bags to the room and warming up a bit, I made my way to the destination of the trip, which is 30km away: the North Cape.
The entrance fee is a steep €28 per person, but I already knew that beforehand. I took the opportunity to join the Royal North Cape Club. This club aims to promote the community of those who have visited the North Cape. Part of the membership fee is used for the preservation of the North Cape. In return, you get lifelong free entry to the North Cape, a membership card, a diploma, and a sticker. The cost for that is 175NOK (around €18).
Due to the many clouds, the midnight sun unfortunately remained hidden. But since I no longer have to pay for admission to the North Cape, I can come back another time 😉
In this area, you can really tell that the North Cape is a mecca for motorcyclists. I haven't seen as many motorcyclists as today for the rest of the week. In the hostel where I'm staying tonight, I counted 15 motorcycles in the parking lot from various parts of Europe. In yesterday's hotel in Finland, there was even a motorcyclist from Washington present 😲
Depending on the weather conditions, I might go up to the cape again tomorrow, that will be decided on short notice. Then I will continue south, possibly all the way to Storslett, but that will be revealed tomorrow.
Since camping is planned for tomorrow again, I hope that the rain at least stops. But according to the weather report, the situation is improving.
Today's expenses:
€55 for gasoline
€63 for hostel
€35 for food + drinks
€28 for admission + €18 for Royal North Cape Club
