Almonte, Isla Cristina, Tavira and Faro (17.05. - 22.05.19)

Ipapashiwe: 20.05.2019

From a distance, we heard the bass that would accompany us throughout the festival in Almonte 24 hours a day. After getting our wristbands without the controller scanning our tickets, we finally entered the 'festival zone'. There were many beautifully decorated stands for clothing, hats, smoothies, and most importantly, super delicious pizza!

The two stages were brightly decorated and the larger one was illuminated with black light at night, which looked especially awesome! The many pine trees provided pleasant shade. During the day, we attended a slackline workshop and met nice people from Malta. Overall, I talked to many interesting, great, and also different people at the festival. It should be noted, however, that not all of them looked particularly well-groomed and some were mentally absent due to drugs. Because of the constant music, we also decided to leave one day earlier and headed to Isla Cristina. My conclusion is that this type of festival is definitely worth experiencing, as I got many new impressions and also learned a lot from it. We also danced a lot! Nevertheless, next time I would prefer a different type of festival due to the music.

In Isla Cristina, we only stayed briefly, but it was enough. There was trash everywhere, but it didn't seem to bother anyone except us. Aside from that, the city was quite pretty. Nets were scattered all over the sea and fishing boats rocked up and down on the water. The small cafes were well visited and there was a relaxed atmosphere.

After enjoying this a bit, we continued on and soon crossed the border into Portugal. There, we reached a beautiful place near Tavira. We immediately explored the area and took some snacks with us to the nearby island, which we had to wade through shallow water to reach. But when we wanted to go back, the water was no longer shallow. The current made it impossible for us to swim the short distance back to the mainland. After waiting for 6 1/2 hours in the blazing sun, the water finally became shallow enough for us to return to Pumkin. Although this was in no way dangerous, I am sure: something like this will not happen to us again :D

Our next destination was the capital of the Algarve: Faro. The city has a lot to offer. Especially the old town with its many charming cafes and narrow streets is worth seeing. Our overnight parking spot was also beautiful. In the evening, we could watch the sunset with salt pans in the foreground. It was also exciting to see the planes taking off and landing up close - from Faro Airport.

Next, we went to the vicinity of Moncarapacho.
