After university , some Erasmus students including myself decided to go to the city. I practically live in Saint-Denis, but in a district that is about 45 minutes' walk from the beach and the city center. In general, on the island, each cardinal point has more or less a city, which is then divided into many districts (north: Saint-Denis, east: Sainte-Rose, south: Saint-Pierre, west: St Paul) .
So we took the bus to the city center around 4:15 p.m., did some shopping and then went to the sea.
We were lucky and caught the sunset. And since it's August and therefore whale time, we could often see whales jumping out of the water.
It's a bit difficult to see in the photo as they are of course quite far from the coast, but for me it was really overwhelming. Seeing these giant animals for real was an amazing experience, but I was really surprised by their elegance and playfulness.
When we were able to tear ourselves away from the sight after quite a long time, we got a snack and some Dodo beer and sat down. There we chatted for about an hour and took the last bus (about 7:40 p.m.) back.
I really spoke a lot of French today. Even if it's still difficult for me and the grammar is absolutely wrong, I notice that it's easier for me to take part in conversations. My fear of speaking is slowly disappearing!!
