On Friday, Matilda and I celebrated a little in kindergarten and school, as it was Matilda's last day. Oreos, photos, balloons - the perfect party. In the evening, I stayed in Matilda's bungalow and we made masks and watched movies. After the water started working again, we were able to wash off the masks ^^
The next day, I accompanied her to her shuttle bus and shed a few tears... I'm going to miss her a lot!
I spent the day with other volunteers and our taxi driver, Wayan. We went to the botanical garden, a market in Bedugul, a strawberry field, had lunch with a beautiful view, and did a bit of strolling.
The botanical garden was a bit disappointing, but still really beautiful in parts. The forests with tall trees and the pleasant breeze are really nice, and the bamboo forests are very impressive.
At the market, we were able to try many fruits and I bought some spices. We also bought the famous Luwak coffee (Luwak is an animal that eats coffee beans, then excretes them, and the coffee is made from them) there for a pretty cheap price - it's considered the most expensive coffee in the world!
When I tried to hand wash my shirt on Saturday evening, which had gotten dirty from strawberry tasting, it became completely stained orange from the water. So, note to self - never wash light-colored clothes with Balinese water (except in hotels where the water is usually filtered). Very annoying.
Throughout Sunday, 14 new volunteers arrived - now we are 20. I played cards with some of them in the evening, which is always a great way to get to know their names. They all seem really nice :) My new partner, Lisa from Montana, is also here. She and her husband Clint are a bit older than the average, which most of us find pretty cool ^^
