We spent four days near Bermeo. Except for half a day, it was foggy or raining. One specialty, when it comes to food, are the Pinchos (pintxo). How can Pinchos be described briefly: Modern version of canapés, just much more elegant and much better. It has by now become a tradition that as soon as we cross the border, we first eat a plate of Pintxo in Hondarribia.
The trip to the island of 'San Juan de Gaztelugatxe' was spectacular.
Bermeo was our hub in the Basque Country. The small town has 16,000 inhabitants and is about 30 minutes by car from Bilbao.
Back to the food. Thanks to the Tripadvisor app, we found a great restaurant ( Akorda Taberna) in the mountains. We ordered a 'rape' for the two of us. Rape means 'monkfish' in German. Since we had never eaten monkfish before, we ordered this fish. We liked it.
