On 04.04., we embarked on our 7-hour journey from Philly to Ontario Canada to visit Niagara Falls.
Phew, this was an adventurous car ride. The first 400km went smoothly and without traffic (excluding the chaos when getting on the highway). From Syracuse NY, things got really 'fun'. When we wanted to tackle the last 270km, a storm broke out in the region. Rain masses poured down on us like at the Niagara Falls, so we couldn't even see the car in front of us. Unfortunately, aquaplaning didn't make the poor visibility any easier :O. We would have been better off with a boat. After about 20 minutes of horror conditions, we were greeted by Aiolos, the wind god. The gusts were so strong that warning messages were even displayed on the interstate. We had to hold the steering wheel almost together.
In Buffalo, right before our destination, the weather conditions improved and we were able to cross the border to Canada 'comfortably'. Speaking of borders :P... At passport control, the border guard actually asked us who was sitting in the back seat. Bewildered, we rolled down the rear window to show him our suitcases... Well, you can trust the two of us with a lot... but smuggling people across the Canadian border?! For a brief moment, we thought we had made a mistake at the border (hello Trump and Mexico).
After our exciting journey, we checked in at our hotel Days Inn & Suites. Fortunately, we even got a free room upgrade from the Indian receptionist. They told us to enjoy our first stay in Canada...
In the evening, we visited the beautiful Niagara Falls for the very first time. The waterfalls illuminated in different colors looked spectacular at night!
On Wednesday, we visited the falls during the day and even took a boat tour in the late afternoon, which took us right below the falls. The tremendous amount of water impressed us a lot!
We ended the evening comfortably in little Las Vegas.
On 06.04., we will continue our journey to Pittsburgh...
