After the third day of sightseeing in New York, we have almost covered the distance of a marathon.
Today, we started with a delicious breakfast at Broadway Bagel, just like the day before.
Then we spent half a day in Central Park. A beautiful and spacious oasis of tranquility in such a loud and lively city. Just a few meters into the park and the traffic noise and sirens are gone. The squirrel feeding was a bit different than expected. There were supposed to be lots of these very tame little rodents. However, we had to look for them and the animals were very timid.
With all the "Where is the squirrel" distraction, we didn't even notice that we had walked almost 6 km.
During our visit to the Rockefeller Center, the Top of the Rocks on the 67th floor (260m), we had another beautiful view of Central Park and the city.
We quickly checked out the impressive halls of Grand Central Station and the Chrysler Building and then moved on to the next dizzying building. The even taller Empire State Building offers a beautiful view from the 86th floor (320m).
Both observation decks are definitely worth a visit, as the view of Central Park from the Rockefeller is obstructed by the Empire State Building.
We continued on foot to the Flatiron Building. However, it looks more impressive from a distance or from the viewpoints than when you stand in front of it.
We highly recommend Hell's Kitchen. With its numerous restaurants and bistros, there is surely something for every taste. We also found dinner here and gave our feet a well-deserved rest.
