After just over a month...

I'm amazed at how time flies. But there's also so much going on. Yesterday we had another beautiful Advent service. I always enjoy the get-together in the patio afterwards. Then in the afternoon, we had some time to ourselves and enjoyed the beautiful weather in our little garden. We even took a dip in the pool. Watching TV in the evening is always full of surprises because you never know how good the internet connection is. So a movie can sometimes take half an hour longer due to interruptions.

Today, we had two appointments in different neighborhoods of Lima, so we had to account for a lot of travel time. In the morning, we visited the head of 'Bread for the World' in his office. He told us about his work, especially in Peru and Bolivia, which he has been leading for 9 years. He is German and also serves on the church council. It was really interesting, and we might even have the opportunity to accompany him on a project. Due to COVID, many visits to the various projects on site have been postponed. The COVID numbers here in Peru are only slightly increasing. But the government quickly and rigorously imposes restrictions. Since yesterday, you can only go shopping with a COVID pass (vaccination record), even in the supermarket.

In the afternoon, we also visited a church council member who came to Lima with her family at the age of 5 in 1948. She worked as a kindergarten teacher at the Humboldt School for many years and speaks German without an accent. She will support us at the Christmas Eve services. There's still a lot to do until then, and I hope it will be calmer after Christmas.

Since driving here is quite stressful, and our caretaker will need the car tomorrow, Martin will take a taxi to an appointment. Estimated travel time: 1 hour. And I will spend a quiet day at home. As you can see, there's never a dull moment.

That's it for today.
