Fog, the new waves!
It's good that I did some more shopping at the supermarket yesterday. So this morning I can enjoy a hearty breakfast, not just 2 toasts like usual, but here there is no coffee machine, no Cortado.
And then off we go again. The 2nd day in Galicia, the first 'only with land'. Let's see how it goes. It is definitely much fresher here early in the morning than on the coast. The fog that I only used to see from afar in the mountains is now very close, I am walking right through it.
Absolute silence, there is no sound of waves here, just the soft crackling of the stones under my hiking shoes.
While I take photos of the foggy landscape and the sunrise, I think of Rainer, who posts very beautiful photos on his WhatsApp status on his way to work in the morning - sunrises are beautiful everywhere.
This morning scenario is hard to put into words and even the pictures cannot capture the whole spectrum... simply beautiful.
In Galicia, the directions are made of stone blocks; they have the symbol of the Camino, the direction indication and the remaining distance to Santiago de Compostela, with precision up to 3 decimal places (real precision work). So far so good, but these things are placed every few hundred meters, and each time the exact remaining distance... I miss the painted/sprayed yellow arrows, somehow more timeless.
From Lourenza, my initially planned stage destination, the path mostly leads through the forest, very very pleasant. Oh, and the dogs that don't like me and run freely around are getting smaller again.
In the early afternoon, I reach my stage destination, Mondonedo, and the hostel is quickly found. The beds are nice and long!!!!!! And the facilities are pleasantly spacious.
The city also shows itself from a very beautiful side; the only downside is that today is a public holiday, so all shops and supermarkets are closed. Not all restaurants are open either, but I'm sure I'll find something.
